Cocoa extension and rehabilitation and Ghana
The cocoa industry provides about 60 per cent of our foreign exchange and is said to be the life blood of our economy. The Ghana Government therefore attaches the greatest importance to it and has striven not only to maintain, but promote it. The industry is served by a Cocoa Research Institute, and the Cocoa Division of the Ministry of Agriculture acting as its extension wing and both working together to solve the problems of cocoa cultivation; and, the translation of research results into practice is through the joint activities of Cocoa Research Institute and the Cocoa Division. There is the need to have an effective extension services to back the rehabilitation programme which aims at re-establishing and maintaining cocoa in devastated areas or areas of deteriorating cocoa on economic basis
