Toward the integrated management of the for River-Green Bat system
River basin activities in the Fox River-Green Bay system have significantly affected both land and water elements of the watershed for over 150 years. Following a brief description of the basin hydrologic and demographic features, the paper contains a historical summary of selected commercial activities such as timber harvesting which have degraded the natural resources. These past commercial activities have consistently been conducted without regard to their affect on the Fox River-Green Bay system. A discussion of contemporary management activities is presented. Special attention is directed to integrated management efforts for Green Bay. The need for integrated management based on better understanding of the River-Bay system is expressed. The paper is concluded with suggestions for future activities to improve the management of this important resource
