Estudio de las condiciones químicas del agua subterránea de la cuenca superior del río Cañas, Guanacaste

Study of the chemical properties of the ground water from the upper shed of the Cañas river, Guanacaste. Based on the boron content, the Wilcox classification and the US Salinity Laboratory norms, the underground water from the Cañas river upper shed are good irrigation waters. The water table movement profile is deduced from the isoboron curves, which show a steady increment in the boron concentration from the periphery to the geographical center of the shed. The average shape of the Stiff diagrams are characteristic for the Wilcox classes 1 and 2 encountered for the area, and their ratios are 2:1. All the patterns of behavior described for the aquifer are good basis for future comparative studies in Guanacaste and determine, as well, a much simpler sampling and monitoring operation
