Nota prévia: Comparacao fitossociologica das principais espécies de florestas de terra firme e ciliar na Reserva Estadual de Porto Ferreira (SP)

The floristic composition and the phytosociological structure of forests in the Reserva Estadual de Porto Ferreira (21°49'S - 47°25'WG), Southeastern Brasil were studied with the aim of comparing flooded and non-flooded areas. A total sampling of 956 trees equal or over 10 cm diameter at breast height was obtained through the application of the point-centred quarter method. The trees belonged to 124 species, 113 genera and 39 families. Both composition and relative densities of species and families were different in the flooded and non-flooded areas. There was a tenden for co-dominance by Rutaceae, Meliaceae, Lauraceae, Apocynaceae and Lecythidaceae in the non-flooded area, whereas Euphorbiaceae Myrtaceae, Palmae and Melastomataceae showed a tendency for co-dominancy in the flooded area. In both areas Leguminosae was an important family but its species were different in each one. As conclusion, the species of the three most important families were considered as indifferent if they occurred in both areas with similar relative densities; as preferential if they occurred with greater relative densities in one area than in other; and as exclusive if they occurred only in one area.
