The economic importance of the goat in the Tropics and Subtropics
Four-fifths of the world goat population is located in tropical and subtropical regions. The countries with the greatest numbers are India, Iran, Pakistan and Indonesia. Not only their distribution in numbers, but also the proportion to the number of people is high in the tropical regions, especially in Africa. The importance in terms of meat and milk production also parallels the numerical distribution
