These figures represent the total production of 371.6 million heads of goats. In 1979 the total world goat production increased to 445.9 million head which produced 1 892 000 tons of meat and 7 236 000 tons of milk. The average contribution of the goat sector to the food basket was 2.1 kg of meat and 13.2 kg of milk per capita . The supply of goat milk to the food basket was lowest with 1.0 kg/year in China and the highest with 30.0 kg/year per capita in Sudan
