Financing economic growth with special reference to Jamaica
This paper attempts to determine the level of investment required to achieve a desired target rate of growth and the financing necessary for that level of investment. An exploration is made of the major factor constraining growth over the past decade in Jamaica, namely, the shortage of foreign exchange, and the measures needed to alleviate it. The second section is concerned with the identification of sectoral investment priorities, the role to be played by the public and private sectors, as well as, direct investment in trying to ensure that growth is associated with structural change
