Pseudeorabies vaccination-eradication experiment utilizing a modified-live, deletion mutant virus vaccine

The experimental TK-PRV (BUK 13) vaccine used appears to be extremely safe and did not interfere with SN test interpretation from 30 to 248 days post-vaccination. Identification of naturally exposed or infected animals by anamnestic responses was also accomplished following immunization. The vaccination schedule of one injection given to all pigs regardless of age easily fit into this producer's management scheme. The vaccine also crated a potential barrier against natural PRV spread from within the herd and/or from possibly PRV-infected feral pigs outside the herd. It also appears that the duration of immunity from one vaccination may be at least 248 days.
