Brucella melitensis in animals in France: 1983 situation report

The situation of brucellosis caused by Brucella melitensis (caprine and ovine brucellosis) in France during 1983 and its evolution during the past ten years is described, with the help of tables, graphics, and maps. The decrease of the national level of ovine and caprine brucellosis infection goes on, owing to the National Eradication Program started in 1977 for goats and in 1981 for sheep. However, if national results are acceptable, it must be noticed that some regions are still quite infected, mainly in the South of France. Note: This situation report has been performed with informations supplied by Ministere de l'Agriculture-Direction de la Qualité and by J.M. Verger (INRA-Tours Nouzilly-France)
