Bleaching of palm oil

Three different crude palm oils with different bleashing clays under different conditions have been tested. The tests were done to prove how the quality of the crude palm oil is influenced by the amount of bleaching earth used and also to prove the optimum conditions for the treatment with the bleaching clay. The tests were also done in order to ascertain the best conditions for the bleaching clay treatment with regard to temperature and vacuum. The experiments showed that the final colour is influenced by several parameters, some of them not expected. Based on the results some guideline for optimal test conditions for the bleachability and the quality of a crude palm oil can be provided
