A cheap, cold, counter-current oil extraction method for large-scale oil palm mesocarp analysis using regular grade petrol

A cheap method of cold oil extraction is described that produces similar results to conventional Soxhlet extraction using ordinary grade petrol as a solvent. By using a counter-current system of 8 extractions only 100 ml petrol is needed per complete extraction of 50g dried and pounded mesocarp. The investment cost in extraction apparatus is virtually nil. The system can deal with almost any number of samples
