Support to the design of rural development strategies in the Caribbean

The document presents the project Support to the Design of Rural Development Strategies in the Caribbean, its techniques and methods available for solving the specific problems: limited information on the socio-economic dimensions of rural areas, lack of clearly defined government policies with respect to rural development, institutional support systems for rural development in the Caribbean are limited in capabilities, limited technical capabilities of rural development institutions in identification, formulation and execution of programmes and projects, and limited knowledge as to sources and sourcing of financial and human resources for programme/project development and execution. The main objetive is to improve the quality of life for rural populations in the Caribbean through a process of reactivation and modernization of agriculture and rural industries. (MIBA)
