The effects of oestrogen on tubal transport and ovo-implantation in the guinea-pig
A study has been made of the effects of small doses of oestradiol benzoate on the fertilized eggs of the guinea pig, (1) when they are in the Fallopian tube, and (2) in the uterus before and during implantation. In group (1) pregnancy was terminated if more than 10 pg oestradiol benzoate was injected, but there was no evidence that this was caused by retention of ova en the Fallopian tube ('tube-locking'). In group (2) a total of 30 pg oestradiol did not prevent normal implantation in the guinea-pig as it would have done in most rabbits
