Impacts of public and private agricultural research on productivity in Brazil: new evidence from the census data
Productivity decomposition studies have formed an important part the body of economic studies identifying impacts of research and related programs. Prior studies have not attempted to separate productivity growth attributed to public sector research, private sector and to extension. The paper reports elasticity estimates of productivity gains to: -public sector research directed toward perennial crops; -public sector research directed toward field crops; -public sector extension; -private sector research. Results show that productivity growth associated with these investiments. Output supply and factor demand are also affected
