In a nutshell: invasion of alien species
This issue features Invasive Alien Species; (IAS) which is a leading cause of loss of native biodiversity in the Caribbean. They also directly impact humans lives. For example, the invasion of the africanized bees has caused a change in the local strain of bees and loss of human life. Loss is also measured in economic terms as a result of direct damage to crops and livestock. Post harvest losses are also quite significant. This is a serious problem in many caribbean islands.
