Intensive, extensive, and optimal development of forestlands

What are the major economic considerations for a country with vast undeveloped forestlands? The economics literature on forest development has few answers to this question, because authors generally have focuses solely on either the clearing and use of the forest in support of other sectors of the economy or the regeneration and preservation of the trees. Both focuses are incomplete; they do not deal with issues that are basic to development of a forest economy. This paper attempts to single out the policy options available and to spell out their effects
