Detection of a point mutation in the sodium channel gene from pyrethroid resistant strains of cattle tick (Boophilus microplus) by mismtch-primer mediated polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (mppcrrflp)

This method uses a mismatching primer to create a restriction site in the mutant allele by PCR amplification. After digestion, PCR products containing wild-type and mutant alleles produce a frament length polymorphism on electrophoresis that is easily discernible
