Biogeography of the predator ants of the genus Ectatomma (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Ectatomminae) in Eastern Bahia and neighbouring regions

The neotropical genus of predatory ants Ectatomma includes 14 species, which are distributed from Mexico to Argentina, having eight at Bahía and neighbouring States. The importance of this group of ants in natural biological control of tropical crop pests is pointed out. The geographic distribution of the species that occur in eastern Bahia, Sergipe, as well as in the neighbouring regions of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo was studied in details.
