Controle de cancro ou murcha de Ceratocystis do cacaueiro na Bahia, Brasil

Cancer or Ceratocystis-wilt in cocoa trees is caused by the fungus Ceratocystis fimbriata, which is essentially a secondary and opportunist parasite, usually associate with lesions. Presently, the illness is spread throughout all plantations of the variety Theobahia seminal (Sca-6 x ICS), and is the cause of major scale death amongst the cocoa tree population, and is now affecting grafting in clonal gardens.Consequently, a study has been designed, focusing on the developing of new strategies to control the illness. Research was conducted in three experimental layouts, located in two different target-areas, with a variable degree of illness incidence.The treatements tested were: 1)integrated management, 2)relative standard and 3)absolute standard. Symptons of cancer-Ceratocystis only were noticed on affected stalks, but no infection was found on the on the roots of the cocoa tree.
