Efecto de la densidad de siembra sobre algunas características morfológicas y el rendimiento en frijol común (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

During the second semester of 1976, four varieties of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) of indetermined habit were sown at four densities; 6, 12, 14 and 48 x 104 plants/ha in a suitable site. The varieties sown were Ica Pijao, Porillo Sintetico, Puebla 152 and P 006. The first two varieties are indetermined growth habit or short guide (Type I), while the others are also indetermined growth habit or long guide but not climbing (Type IlI). The variety with the most response to plant density was Puebla 152 with a mean field of 3.12 t/ha. The variety with the lowest yield was P 006 with a mean of 2.7 t/ha. The variety Porrillo Sintético responded positively up to a density of 24 plants/m3, after which yield began to disminish
