Epoca de ataque de Acanthoscelides obtectus (Say, 1813) a la planta de frijol (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) bajo condiciones de campo
With the objective of determining when bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) developing pods are more susceptible to infestation from Acanthoscelides obtectus Say, 1813), four separate infestations treatments were tested, under field conditions. A. obtectus were released at pod formation, stuffîng, physiologic maturation and at harvesting maturation. Immediately before (control) and three days after each release, the pods were protected with impermeable paper bags to avoid infestation by the insects released in the next phases. The bean genotypes were kept in the field until the end of their vegetative cycle. It is concluded that the pod development phases more susceptible to infestation by A. obtectus are at physiologic and harvesting maturation. Among the four genotypes of P. vulgaris tested in the field, cv. Carioca and the TMD-1 mutant are more resistant than cv. Rosinha G-2 and Goiano Precoce.
