Monosporium apiospermum Saccardo (Fungi, Deuteromycetes), associated with the eggs of the marine tortoise Lepidochelys olivacea (Eschscholtz 1829) in Costa Rica
The isolation of M. apiospermum [Scedosporium apiospermum] from the eggs of the marine tortoise, L. olivacea, collected at a beach in a National Park in Costa Rica, is reported. S. apiospermum was isolated from the albumin of 3 samples of collected eggs. The significance of this contamination with S. apiospermum is discussed in relation to the possible infection of humans.
