Respuesta del frijol Phaseolus vulgaris L., en asociación con maíz Zea mays L., al ataque del picudo del ejote Apion godmani Wagner
Bean genotypes Amarillo-155, J-117, Pinto-168, Pinto Texcoco, Mexico-332, Puebla-36, Tlaxcala-62, Hidalgo-58, and APN-18 (all supposedly resistant to to Apion gudmani) and Canario-107, Jamapa, and Zacateca-45 (susceptible) were intercropped with maize variety VS-22 at Santa LucIa de PrIas, Mexico. The resistant genotypes were Amarillo-155, J-117, Pinto-168, Pinto Texcoco, Mexico-332, Puebla-36, Tlaxcala-62, and Hidalgo-58. Two resistance mechanisms were displayed by Amarillo-155, J-117, Pinto-168, and Hidalgo-58: oviposition-inhibiting antixenosis and antibiosis. Puebla-36 and Pinto Texcoco owed their resistance to the mechanism of oviposition-inhibiting antixenosis.
