Asociaciones y rotaciones de gramíneas con leguminosas

This article briefly explains the agronomic advantages of mixed cropping, particularly of maize with legumes. Maize-bean mixed cropping has reported net yields 170 percent higher than maize monoculture and 149 percent higher than bean monoculture, outstanding nitrogen contributions from three legumes (e.g., winter vetch contributing the equivalent of 169 kg/ha of nitrogen), and a reduction of up to 44 percent in fossil-fuel use in maize-soya-wheat-alfalfa rotations, compared with monocropped maize.
