Resumen de costos y rendimientos de procesamiento de frutos y semillas en el banco de semillas forestales CATIE
What is the real cost of one kilogram of seed?. This is a common question among the tree seed producers, necessary to estimate the final price of the seed. In this document we present the results of seed yields of ten forest tree species, collected by the CATIE Tree Seed Bank during the last year, and some useful fruit/seed relationships. In average the prices range between US 0.85/kg for Enterolobium cyclocarpum and US 23.17 for Vochysia ferruginea. It is recomended to all tree seed producers collect this kind of data as an aid for a better planning of the seed bank activities and a more precise estimation of the seed prices.
