Validación y transferencia de técnicas mejoradas para el manejo de la maleza Rottboellia cochinchinensis en maíz

Itchgrass in one of the most important weeds in Central America. Because of its high competition to maize, it causes severe economic losses to growers. Several management practices including no tillage, selected herbicides, use of Mucuna as a cover crop and fallow management were assessed in validation plots at growers farms to determine their impact on itchgrass density and on maize yields. Itchgrass population density was lower in validation plots than in growers plots. Maize yields were higher in validation plots and economic analysis indicate that suggested technologies are profitable.
