Factors affecting land use and soil management practices in El Salvador

This study provides important insights into the parameters of the relationship between agriculture and the environment, it cannot directly measure the impact of agricultural conditions and practices on the environment. Therefore, this chapter does not examine specific elements of cost and productivity or actual amounts of soil and nutrient loss. Such information is not available, either in the current data set or from other sources. The present study is based on four data sets, compiled separately between 1987 and 1989, that form a composite of agriculture in El Salvador.
