El papel del productor enlance en las actividades de extensión agrícola

The term 'producer link' was used in Honduras to describe a representative leader from small farming communities, selected by the community and equipped by the Natural Resources Secretariat, to form an adequate human resources framework at community level. A profile of the ideal leader is described and the selection criteria are given. The topics covered in the training of a leader are described. The role of the producer link in rural extension activities includes: to promote and develop social, production and communal activities; to disseminate knowledge throughout the community; to apply his knowledge to his own land; and to maintain a record of the activities and technical information. The achievements so far have been: practical and applied knowledge of soil conservation; applied knowledge of grain conservation; adoption of agronomic practices, especially on slopes; accomplishment of communal projects; and establishment of family vegetable gardens.
