La coltura del cacao in Akontombra (Western Region, Ghana)

This paper concerns the cultivation of cocoa in a village in the Western Region, Ghana, in which the whole society is organized around this product. The techniques of cultivation adopted and the pathology that affects the cocoa crop are described. Further, this paper deals with the economic aspects connected with cocoa cultivation. The use of various production techniques, the marketing of the product, technical assistance and the services offered by banks are discussed.
