La problemática de la producción de sorgo en Nicaragua

Annual sorghum production has increased to 225,000 metric ton on 70,400 hectares. More than 75 percent of this area is planted to commercial hybrids. National sorghum yield is 2.27 t/ha. Production constraints include use of marginal land, implementation of new technologies and lack of equipment and spare parts bought on by the U.S. backed economic blockade. Strategies to overcome these constraints are discussed and include increased access to credit and technical assistance to sorghum producers.
