Genetic studies in freemartin bovines of the Holando breed in Uruguay: Analysis of XX / XY chimerism

A Cytogenetic studies were performed in 4 pairs of heterosexual bovine twins and 2 freemartin. The cell samples permitted to analyze the sexual quimerism XX/XV. Samples of XY cells in the twins did not show significative differences (x²=4.72; p<O.2), so a parallel variation is postulated. A total bidirectional interchanged of lymphocytes through the vascular anastomosis is determinated. A random distribution of XY cells in each case is shown.

Se realizó un estudio citogenético en cuatro pares de mellizos heterosexuales bovinos y dos freemartins. Las muestras de células linfocitarias permitieron realizar un análisis del quimerismo sexual XX/XY. Las muestras XY entre los mellizos no mostraron diferencias significativas (x²=4.72; p<O.2) planteándose variaciones paralelas entre ellas. Se establece una difusión total, bidireccional, de linfocitos a través de la anastomosis vascular. Se indica una distribución al azar de las células XY en cada sexo.
