Dinoseris salicifolia Griseb. is a native species, distributed in Bolivia and north- ern Argentina in the biogeographic provinces of Chaco and Yungas. It is an evergreen shrub, up to 4 m tall, with simple, opposite leaves. Well known as a phytotoxic and medicinal plant. The aim of this work is to study the architecture and foliar morpho anatomy of D. salicifolia . Leaf samples were obtained from a population in Trancas Department (Tucumán Province). Conventional histological techniques were used together with stereoscopic microscopy, scan- ning electron with X-ray analyzer microscopy and conventional optical and polarized light mi- croscopy. D. salicifolia presents serrate, elliptical leaves, pinnate -camptodrome- broquido- drome venation. Curvilinear anticlinal epidermal cell walls, anomocytic, brachyparacytic and hemi-brachyparacytic stomata occur in both leaf epidermises. The leaf blade is dorsiventral and amphistomatic. Crystalliferous idioblasts are found in the mesophyll as macro and grouped idioblasts. In the middle vein one to three vascular bundles with sclerenchyma sheath at xylem and phloem poles are observed. In cross section the petiole is subcircular with an adaxial notch, vascular tissues are organized in six collateral bundles with sclerenchyma sheaths at phloem and xylem poles. Calcium oxalate crystals are found on the wall of glandular trichomes, in epidermal, mesophyll, companion and occlusive cells; and free occluding the stomatic osti- ole. Leaf architecture and morpho anatomy of D. salicifolia is described. Characters of diag- nostic value are: leaf architecture, stomatal type, trichomes and crystals.

Dinoseris salicifolia Griseb. es una especie nativa, distribuida en Bolivia y norte de Ar- gentina en las provincias biogeográficas, Chaqueña y de las Yungas. Esta especie es un ar- busto perenne, de hasta 4 m de altura, con hojas simples y opuestas. Posee importancia medicinal y fitotóxica. El objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar la arquitectura y morfoanatomía foliar de D. salicifolia. Se trabajó con muestras de una población del Dpto. Trancas, Prov. Tu- cumán. Se utilizaron técnicas histológicas convencionales, microscopio estereoscópico, óptico- polarizado y electrónico de barrido con analizador de rayos X. Presenta hojas elípticas, ase- rradas, con venación pinnada-camptódroma-broquidódroma. Células epidérmicas poligonales de paredes curvilíneas. Tres tipos de aparatos estomáticos: anomocíticos, braquiparacíticos y hemibraquiparacíticos. En transcorte la lámina es dorsiventral y anfistomática. El mesofilo presenta macroidioblastos e idioblastos cristalíferos agrupados. En el nervio medio se obser- van uno a tres haces colaterales con casquetes esclerenquimáticos hacia el xilema y el floe- ma. El pecíolo en transcorte es subcircular, con escotadura adaxial. El sistema vascular presenta seis haces colaterales con casquetes esclerenquimáticos hacia el floema y el xilema. Los cristales de oxalato de calcio (OxCa) se observan en células epidérmicas, oclusivas, acom- pañantes y del mesofilo, así como liberándose a través de los estomas y sobre la pared de los tricomas eglandulares. Se describen por primera vez la arquitectura y morfoanatomía foliar de D. salicifolia. Los elementos de valor diagnóstico son: arquitectura foliar, tipo de aparato estomático, tricoma y cristales.
