Supplementation with probiotics appears to be an effective strategy in the prevention and treatment of Gestational Diabetes and weight gain. Studies shown that probiotic intake improves maternal glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity. This review intends to shed some light on the influence of gut, placental and vaginal microbiota on Gestational Diabetes and the role of probiotics intervention.
