PF 08. Evaluation of a capacitance meter reading device for forage dry matter. III. calibration

The aim of this work is to construct one or more calibration equation to use a capacitance meter reading. This was conducted in four pastures and four seasons. A native grass pasture, two sowed pastures of 2 and 4 years were and an annual forage crop were studied in summer and autumm. One hundred square of 25 x 25 cm were cut and dryed to estimate dry matter and the mean of 10 measurement of capacitance were collected in each pasture. A linear regression equation was used to calibrate the equipment. Correlation coefficients ranged from 0.10 to 0.91. Equations obtained were significatively different between pastures and seasons. However, for some combinations of pastures and seasons a model was constructed and non-significative. A general model was analyzed; it showed good performance for pastures below 1500 kg ha-1 forage availability.
