Headline (00:00-00:31) 2. The OAS has ruled out military intervention in Haiti but is going ahead with economic sanctions and diplomatic isolation. Consideration is also given to sending a civilian mission to Haiti and whether or not a peacekeeping force should accompany that mission is still not clear. Reports out of Haiti today indicate that newly sworn-in interim president Joseph Nerette is yet to appoint a prime minister. Interview with Trinidad and Tobago Foreign Minister, Sahadeo Basdeo, a member of the OAS mission to Haiti (00:32-05:27) 3. Opposition parties contesting Guyana's upcoming elections say they have uncovered more problems with the voter's list. This is the most recent in a series of charges that the list is seriously flawed. Sharief Khan reports from Guyana on the enormity of the task facing elections supervisor, Rudy Collins (05:28-07:17) 4. The fourth Congress of the Cuban Communist Party opened in Santiago de Cuba today in the east of the island. The Congress is expected to undertake wide-ranging reviews of the country's political and economic system, and many observers believe that reformists in the party will press for changes. On the eve of the Conference, six dissidents were arrested for holding a demonstration in favor of democratic change and the Congress itself is being held in absolute secrecy. Pat Whitehorne interviews Professor John Griffiths, a Cuba specialist based in New York. BBC's Jerome Harris reports on the popularity of the Congress among Cuban exiles in Miami including interviews with Tomas Regalado, Director of News of Miami's main Spanish radio station WAQI; Francisco Hernandez, President of the Cuban American National Foundation; and other Cubans (07:18-14:23) 5. Almost three years after losing a world title fight to American Mike Tyson, British heavyweight boxer Frank Bruno will be back in the ring in November. Bruno will meet Dutch heavyweight champion John Allen in London (14:24-14:57) 2020-05-14T13:33:49Z 2020-05-14T13:33:49Z 1991-10-10 Recording, oral CAR0859 http://hdl.handle.net/2139/49047 en The BBC Caribbean Archives Collection 1988 - 2011 Copyright British Broadcasting Corporation Access to this collection is available on site at the Main Library, Mona Campus (main.library@uwimona.edu.jm), Jamaica and The Alma Jordan Library (wimail@sta.uwi.edu), St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago.
