Pinus pinceana Gordon es una especie endémica de México, con distribución fragmentada, principalmente en el noreste y en menor escala en el Centro-Este del país, las poblaciones más sureñas se encuentran en el estado de Hidalgo. En este estudio se analizó el patrón de distribución espacial y diamétrica en un bosque maduro de esta especie en el estado de Hidalgo. Se evaluó la producción de conos y semillas durante tres años consecutivos y diferentes tratamientos pregerminativos en semillas almacenada por uno y dos años de recolecta en las localidades El Arenalito y San Cristóbal, Hidalgo. Para el estudio de distribución espacial, se estableció una parcela de observación de 30 x 200 m dividida en cuadros de 10 x 10 m. El análisis estructural se llevó a cabo a partir de la dominancia y densidad relativa. La distribución espacial de P. pinceana se analizó con el Índice de Dispersión (I) propuesto por Morisita. P. pinceana es un importante componente aunque no el principal en el bosque estudiado. La distribución espacial de manera general mostró un patrón de distribución agregado manteniendo una correlación negativa con los individuos de Pinus cembroides. Con respecto a indicadores reproductivos, las poblaciones mostraron diferencias significativas en seis de once características evaluadas, con alta variación entre árboles y fechas de producción. El primer año fue de alta producción de conos. La eficiencia de producción de semilla llena fue 54%, 43% y 26% para el primer, segundo y tercer año respectivamente. Pocos árboles generan la mayor cantidad de conos. La cantidad de semilla vana aumentó hasta en un 100% en El Arenalito durante el segundo y tercer año de evaluación. La viabilidad de la semilla con la prueba de tetrazolio al 1% fue de 77.5% en El Arenalito y 68% en San Cristóbal. En cajas Petri la contaminación por hongos fue común a pesar del uso de peróxido de hidrógeno. En invernadero fueron probados cinco tratamientos pregerminativos y un control. Las soluciones de hipoclorito de sodio por 5 (HS5) y 10 minutos (HS10) resultaron ser las mejores. No hubo diferencias significativas entre poblaciones o entre los dos años de recolecta en capacidad germinativa y vigor germinativo. La población de San Cristóbal tuvo el valor más grande del vigor germinativo en HS10 en el segundo año, y la mejor velocidad de germinación. El tiempo de almacenamiento tiene un efecto negativo sobre la capacidad germinativa. _______________ ABSTRACT: Pinus pinceana Gordon is an endemic pine species to Mexico with discontinuous distribution throughout its range, located mainly in the northeast and the mid-east of the country. The southernmost populations are found in the state of Hidalgo where this fragmentation is more evident. In this study, I analysed the spatial pattern and diameter distribution of individuals of this species, in a mature forest in the state of Hidalgo. I also evaluated the cone and seed production during three consecutive years, testing for different pregerminative treatments of seeds stored for one and two years, for two seed collections from the localities “El Arenalito” and “San Cristóbal”, Hidalgo. The spatial distribution of the species was analyzed within one observation plot of 30 x 200 m, split into quadrants of 10 x 10 m. I used dominance and relative density indices to analyse the population structure. The spatial distribution of P. pinceana was analyzed with the Dispersion Index (I) proposed by Morisita. Results showed that this species is an important but not the principal component in the ecosystem studied. In general, the spatial distribution showed an aggregate distribution pattern, maintaining a negative correlation with individuals of another pinion pine, Pinus cembroides. Reproductive indicators showed that populations have significant differences in six of the eleven characteristics evaluated, with high variation between trees and production dates. The efficiency of full seed production was 54 %, 43 % and 26 % for the first, second, and third year, respectively. Few trees produced the majority of cones. The amount of empty seed increased to 100 % during the second and third years, mainly in the population El Arenalito. The viability of seed was 77.5 % for El Arenalito and 68 % in San Cristóbal, obtained with a tetrazolium test with a 1% solution. Fungi contamination was a common problem despite the use of hydrogen peroxide. In greenhouse conditions, I tested five pregerminative treatments and a control. The best results were obtained using sodium hypochlorite by 5 (HS5) and 10 minutes (HS10). There were not significant differences, neither among populations nor between the two years of harvest, in germination capacity and germination value. The population of San Cristóbal had the largest value for germination vigor with HS10 at the second year, and the best speed of germination. The storage time had a negative effect on the germination capacity.
