Ontwikkeling van een model voor het optimaliseren van bouwplanscenario’s op melkveebedrijven met betrekking tot economie, klimaat en milieu

The aim of this study was twofold. First, to develop a model that is able to optimize cropping plans for dairy farms in the Netherlands, considering thresholds for critical performance indicators such as greenhouse gas emissions, homegrown protein, nutrient utilization, and soil health. Second, to test this model on a hypothetical dairy farm in Brabant on sandy soil. The model optimized crop rotations under different milk production levels and intensities, without considering derogation. Sixteen crops were tested, using the Kringloopwijzer (2022) for critical performance indicator calculations. Results indicate that intensive dairy farming benefits from high-yield, energy-rich crops like silage maize and fodder beets alongside grassland. Further use of the model is recommended for optimizing scenarios for varying agricultural conditions and goals with respect to critical performance indicators.
