To this deterioration contributed the location in a soft calcarenite rock quarry, the adverse environmental conditions and the numerous and extensive wrong archaeological and managing interventions along more than a century. The cultural, artistic and religious importance of this Necropolis converts the protection and conservation of this archaeological site in a major issue. This work present the data obtained in a multidisciplinary research were geology, geomorphology, micro-environmental and climatic monitoring, rock petrophysical characterization, description of weathering forms and biological colonization were considered in order to propose corrective measures to minimize deterioration. This research was funded by the Consejería de Cultura, Junta de Andalucía, the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, project CGL2010-17183 and the CSIC project 201230E125 Peer reviewed 2018-04-25T07:04:52Z 2018-04-25T07:04:52Z 2018-11-22 artículo http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501 Journal of Cultural Heritage (34): 185-197 (2018) 1296-2074 http://hdl.handle.net/10261/164122 10.1016/j.culher.2018.02.019 http://dx.doi.org/10.13039/501100003339 http://dx.doi.org/10.13039/501100007273 http://dx.doi.org/10.13039/501100011011 en Postprint http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.culher.2018.02.019 Sí open Elsevier
