Water current intensities and directions were registered by a RCM9 Aanderaa at approximately 1 m above the bottom. The topographic variability of the seabed was recorded by an altimeter. Finally, video sequences of 10 s every 4 h were recorded with a GOPRO digital video camera located at 1.6 m above the bottom. Bottom sediment was fine sand (d50 = 0.177 mm) at the beginning of the deployment. Five events of ripple formation were observed from video sequences. Events 2, 4 and 5 were characterized by WNW-ESE crestedaligned and well-developed lobe morphologies (linguoid ripples). They were associated with high-velocity currents towards SE, and classified as wave-current dominated ripples. Events 1 and 3 displayed N-S oriented and straight ripple crests. They were related to waves coming from the East and classified as wave-dominated ripples. Wave-current dominated ripples displayed bigger dimensions (height and wavelength) than wave-dominated. Ripples were flattened after events under low-energy conditions probably because of bottom bioturbation, mostly due to benthic communities. However, ripples persisted and remodelled between events 3 and 4 due to a rapid change in hydrodynamic conditions from wave to wave-current dominated [ES] Se fondeó un trípode bentónico a 13.3 m de profundidad en Cap Tortosa (Delta del Ebro, Mediterráneo noroccidental) del 15 de octubre al 10 de noviembre de 2013. Se midió la intensidad y dirección de la corriente aproximadamente a 1 m sobre el fondo mediante un RCM9 Aanderaa y la variabilidad topográfica del fondo mediante un altímetro. Finalmente, se grabaron secuencias de 10 s cada 4 h mediante una cámara de video digital GOPRO localizada a 1.6 m del fondo. El sedimento estaba constituido por arena fina (d50 = 0.177 mm) al inicio del fondeo. Se observaron cinco eventos de formación de ripples a partir de las secuencias de video. Los eventos 2, 4 y 5 se caracterizaron por crestas orientadas ONO-ESE y morfologías lobulares (ripples linguoides). Se asociaron a fuertes corrientes hacia SE, y se clasificaron como ripples generados por oleaje y corrientes. Los eventos 1 y 3 presentaron crestas rectilíneas orientadas N-S. Se relacionaron con oleaje procedente del E y se clasificaron como ripples generados por oleaje. Los ripples generados por oleaje y corrientes presentaron mayores dimensiones (altura y longitud de onda) que los ripples generados por oleaje. Los ripples fueron parcialmente destruidos después de cada evento, en condiciones de baja energía, debido probablemente por la bioturbación del fondo generada principalmente por comunidades bentónicas.
