Weinrebe, Wilhelm 6th International Symposium on Submarine Mass Movements and Their Consequences (ISSMMTC), 23-25 September 2013, Kiel, Germany.-- 10 pages Offshore Costa Rica large seamounts under-thrust the continental convergent margin causing slides of complex morphology. The large dimension of the structures has attracted previous investigations and their basic characteristics are known. However, no detailed mapping of their complex morphology has been reported. Here we present a detailed mapping of the failure-related structures and deposits. We use deep-towed sidescan sonar data, aided by multibeam bathymetry to analyze their geometry, geomorphologic character, backscatter intensity, and spatial distribution. Those observations are used to analyze the relationship between landslide characteristics and abundance, to the changes in the style of deformation caused by the subduction of seamounts to progressively greater depth under the margin Peer reviewed 2015-03-30T07:06:18Z 2015-03-30T07:06:18Z 2014 capítulo de libro http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_3248 Submarine Mass Movements and Their Consequences : 6th International Symposium: 381-390 (2014) Advances in Natural and Technological Hazards Research 978-3-319-00971-1 978-3-319-00972-8 1878-9897 http://hdl.handle.net/10261/113087 10.1007/978-3-319-00972-8_34 en 37 https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-00972-8_34 Sí none Springer
