Se calcularon la estabilidad y los riesgos financieros de seis tecnologías agroforestales con cacao (Theobroma cacao), laurel (Cordia alliodora), plátano (Musa AAB) y de los monocultivos correspondientes en Changuinola, Panamá. Las tecnologías CLP se basan en la asignación de diferentes proporciones de tierra a cacao o plátano, con una población constante de laurel de 69 árboles/ha. Se modelaron las series de tiempo de precios de cacao, plátano y madera de laurel y se calcularon los retornos financieros para un período de 12 años. Los riesgos se estimaron con base en las distribuciones acumuladas de frecuencia de ingresos netos y en el ingreso mínimo de la familias rurales de la zona. Las tecnologías CLP con mayor población de cacao fueron las menos riesgosas, pero también las menos estables. El laurel es un componente clave para reducir los riesgos financieros. Stability and financial risk of six agroforestry technologies with cacao (Theobroma cacao), laurel (Cordia alliodora), plantain (Musa AAB), and the corresponding monocultures in Changuinola, Panamá were evaluated. These "CLP" technologies are based on the distribution of different land proportions to cacao or plantain in combination with a constant laurel population of 69 trees ha. Time series for cacao, plantain and laurel timber prices were modelled and the financial returns over a 12 year period were calculated. Risk estimated were based on the accumulated frequency distribution of net incomes and with the minimum income of rural families in the study zone. The CLP technologies with higher populations of cacao were least risk but also the least stable.
