Structure and dynamics of a logged over Brazilian Amazonian rain forest.

This research intends to study the phutosociology and dynamics of a logged dense forest of Brazilian Amazonia as an attempt to understand the process involved in plant population behaviour after logging, compared with the indisturbed primary forest and, in the light of the results obtained, to suggest measures of improving silvicultural systems relying on natural regeneration. The main aims ate: to analyse floristic composition, diversity, spatial distribution, abundance frequency, dominance, volume, ingrowth, mortality and growth rate of tree species in the study area at four occasiones, namely one year before logging, one five and seven years after logging, and in a contrl area at three occasions; and to analyse the forest dynamics by comparing changes withtime on the parameters stated above.
