Optimum volume of spray application for the control of coffee berry disease

Using the degree of physical performance (correct droplet size, good penetration through the coffee bush, distribution and courage of the sprayed material) and the recommended rate (4.4 kg/ha) of captafol, optimum volume for CBD (Colletotrichum coffeanum) control was in the range of 750-1000 l/ha. Despite the fact that captafol reduced the incidence of CBD significantly (P=0.01) yield from these treatments was very low. The practical implications of these results together with suggestions for further investigations on the efficacy of this fungicide in the control of CBD and hence crop losses are pointed out in this paper
