Estudo da biologia de algumas raças de Hemileia vastatrix Berk & Br :

This paper deals with the study of the germination, lenght and ramification of the germinative tube, the period of incubation, the pustuled areas on the leaves and the number of spores (uredospores) per square milimeter on the pustules, of physiologic races of Hemileia vastatrix Berk. et Br. Five physiologic races from different origins with 1, 2, 3 and 4 virulent genes were chosen in order to increase the diversity of the material. The "in vitro" results showed the following behavior of the different races: 1) Germination: High: races I, XIV and XXIV; Low: races II and VII. 2) Lenght of the germinative tube: Long: races XIV and I; Medium: races I, II and XXIV; Short: race VII. 3) Ramification of the germinative tube: The race XIV showed slightly high ramification. The inoculations on susceptible plants showed the following results: 1) Incubation period: Less than 20 days: races I and XXIV; Equals to 20 days: race XIV; Between 20 and 30 days: races II and VII. 2) Leaf pustuled areas: Large areas: races I, XIV and XXIV; Media areas: race II; Small areas: race VII. 3) Number of uredospores per square milimeter in the pustules: High: races XIV and XXIV; Medium: races I and II; Low: race VII. The results presented by five races, permit to separate whatever aggressiveness: High aggressiveness, races XXIV, XIV and I; Medium aggressiveness, race II; Low agressiveness, race VII
