Chemotaxonomy of Mozambicoffea

Chemical constitution of four species of Mozambicoffea viz. Coffea eugenioides Moore, C. kapakata Hirsch., C. racemosa Lour and C. salvatrix Swynn. et Phil. was investigated by simple chemical tests. The results suggest that C. eugenioides is more appropriately placed in Mozambicoffea than Erythrocoffea. C. kapakata appears to be very closely related to the genus Coffea L. in general and to Mozambicoffea in particular. Within Mozambicoffea C. eugenioides, C. racemosa and C. kapakata form a complex while C. salvatrix stands apart
