Die kaffeekirschen-krankheit (Colletotrichum coffeanum Noack)

The coffee berry disease has in recent years become Kenya's biggest problem. This disease was first recorded in Kenya in 1922. Twenty years ago the disease was confined to the West Rift. Later on outbreaks in Eastern Kenya where reported. Until ten years ago CBD normally only used to attack coffee at higher altitudes. Since 1962 CBD attacks have also been reported in Kenya at lower altitudes. Today CBD is known in all coffee growing districts of Kenya, also in many areas of Uganda, Tansania, Congo, Cameron, Angola, Rwanda and possibly also in India. In this paper a description of the symptoms, the fungus, the epidemiology (etiology) and the control measures is given
