Effectiveness of new and recommended fungicides in controlling coffee berry disease during 1978
The fungicides Captafol 80 WP (Orthodifolatan) and Delan 75 WP (Dithianon) continued to prove their efficiency in controlling Coffee Berry Disease (CBD) during 1978 and a tank mixture of Captafol + Delan at half rates was found equally good against CBD. Reduced rates of Delan (0.27) and Perenox (0.7) did not give good disease control. Bravo 6F 54 flowable (Chlorothalonil) was dissappointing in its performance throughout at the rates tested and it will not be field evaluated anymore. Daconil 75 WP (Chlorothalonil) treated plots recorded lower yields compared to Delan and Captafol treated plots. MK-23 was found promising at 0.4 against CBD but the other new products namely BAS-35405-K, EL-228, RH-2161, Chevron 20615, mixtures of Calixin M + Captan + 3NBP and Calixin M + Captan gave disappointing results
