Toward a global research strategy on the ecology of natural tropical forest to meet conservation and management needs
A possible research strategy for a global program on the ecology of tropical forests is outlined in this chapter, which attempts to identify some of the major lacunae in our understanding of the biology of tropical trees, the maintenance of diversity in species-rich tropical forests, and the impact on natural and anthropogenic disturbances of this diversity. Attempts are made to assign priorities to research questions in light of constraints of limited time and financial and human resources.
