Report of the Twenty Third Session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission, Thimphu, Bhutan, 9-11 June 2010

This publication reports the proceedings of the twenty-third session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission held in Thimphu, Bhutan from 9 to 11 June 2010. The Committee considered the state of forestry in the region including regional trends. An in-session seminar was held on monitoring and assessment mechanisms and forward-looking analysis of issues, challenges and opportunities affecting forests and forestry. The Commission examined issues related to enhancing biodiversity conservation and improving forest law enforcement and governance in the region. The document provides a summary of the recommendations made by the Commission session, as well as regional issues identified by the Commission for the attention of the FAO Committee on Forestry.
