Obtaining and evaluating the anti-PMSG serum

A PMSG antiserum was produced in an ovariectomized ewe by giving three monthly injections of 5000 I.U. of PMSG in complete Freund's adjuvant. It was tested by bioassay in mice and rats, evaluating the blockade capacity against PMSG ovariotrophic effect. The antiserum blockades completely the effect of PMSG, being effective the lowest doses used (11 of antiserum by each I.U. of PMSG).

Un suero antiPMSG fue obtenido inmunizando una oveja ovariectomizada con tres dosis mensuales de 5000 U.l. de PMSG diluidas en adyuvante completo de Freund. El mismo fue valorado mediante bioensayo en ratones y ratas, evaluándose el bloqueo del efecto ovariotrófico de la PMSG. La concentración de anticuerpos específicos obtenida permitió bloquear la acción de la PMSG incluso a la menor dosis utilizada (11 de suero por cada U.I. de PMSG).
